6th Grade

Exploring Career Decisions 

This course is designed to explore the careers among the cluster of career options available and entrepreneurship by introducing them to the world of work.  Learners will engage in activities to self-reflect individuality to make more sound choices based on their awareness of educational and occupational decisions as they plan their future using short and long term goals. Emphasis is on using technology while studying applications in varied careers, problem solving, fostering critical thinking and improving writing skills.  Mathematics skills are reinforced as learners explore business applications and careers.  Work-based learning strategies necessary for this course are service learning, and job shadowing.  Simulations, projects, teamwork, leadership activities will provide opportunities for application of instruction competencies. 

  

   

  

7th/ 8th Grade

Business Computer Technology and Web Development

   

This course is designed to explore the nature of business and to study related career in fields such as entrepreneurship, keyboarding, and information technology.

 

Keyboarding - Learners will improve keyboarding accuracy by completing conditioning exercises daily as a class warm-up.  This course will improve fluent manipulation of letter, figures/symbol, and service keys. Emphasis is on using technology while studying applications in varied careers, problem solving, fostering critical thinking and improving writing skills.  Mathematics skills are reinforced as learners explore business applications and careers.  Work-based learning strategies necessary for this course are service learning, and job shadowing.  Simulations, projects, teamwork, leadership activities will provide opportunities for application of instruction competencies. 

 

Business Technology Education and Entrepreneurship provides learners with instruction for and about business.  Business and Information Technology Education encompasses business skills and techniques, an awareness of economics.  Emphasis is on risks of operating a business and the skills needed to plan, organize, manage, and finance a small business.

 

Web development is designed to integrate advanced knowledge of technology and career opportunities.  Learners will have a broad understanding of technology and its importance and its effects upon society, the economy and the environment.  Learners will create a web page using basic coding techniques.
